Lying down breathing in and out, in and out, no pause but no rush from bottom to top, deep, deep. Recognize the bellows of your being is lit by millions of stars, quadrillions of eons that coalesce here, now, rising and falling, in the most joyous manifestation (after the grief is coughed out, after the block is swept aside) This being, here, gets to be gets to breathe gets to sing and the firmament dances in celebration of this lit candle, this incandescent life.
Author’s Note: Last Saturday, October 12, 2024, my sweet friend Kara invited me to attend a Good Medicine Gathering at a private venue. The experience began with an hour or so of a breathing technique called Breathwave, inspiring the poem above which I wrote later that night. We followed the breathwork with a few hours of singing original songs gathered around a fire, led by a skilled musician and warmed by internal and external vibrations. Later, the event moved into the sauna, hot-tub, and heated pool, also a very fun time…. I am so grateful to be in a community where people share so generously and widely their gifts of breath, insight, music and spirit. More, please!
